Every year BSEB conducts Class 12th and Class 10th regular examinations in March and April months along with supplementary examinations in the month of July/August for students wishing to improve their score or appearing in for compartmental exams.
Around 13.38 lakh students registered for the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Matriculation (Class 10) examinations that started from March 06, 2017 with English subject and ended on 13th March 2017 with the optional subjects. Out of the total candidates, 7.28 lakh were boys and over 6.10 lakhs were girls. Overall pass percentage in the 2016 BSEB matriculation exam was at 73.48 per cent, and here boys scored higher over girls. The BSEB Class 10th 2017 exams were held in two shifts from 9:30 AM to 12:45 PM and from 2 PM to 5:15 PM and the BSEB matric admit cards were released online on the official website.
1,158 exam centres were used for 2017 Bihar matric exams, the number of students as well as exam centres decreased from the previous year. Patna district had the largest exam centres-around 66 and the number of students appearing for matric exams increased by 10,000. BSEB, provided Class 10 students 15 additional minutes before starting the exam to help them relax and clear their mind. Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) is responsible for holding and conducting Secondary School and Senior Secondary examinations in the month of February/March as well as supplementary examinations in the month of August/September year after year.BSEB also conducts departmental examinations like Diploma in Physical Education, Certificate in Physical Education and Teachers Training Examination from time to time.
Last year, Bihar education department gave away Rs 63.73 crore for giving away Rs 10,000 as stipends to girl students passing matriculation examination in the first division from Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB). There were 61,707 girl students of general category and backward classes-II who passed matric examination with first division. So a stipend of Rs 10,000 was paid to each of them under the Mukhyamantri Balika Protsahan Scheme. Vaishali district got maximum of Rs 3.94 crore where 3,946 girls of general and BC-II categories passed the BSEB Matric examination with first division.
